It is the complicated and beautiful love story of Achilles and Patroclus. Here he is nobody, just another unwanted boy living in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. 12book"The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller I finally made up my mind about bumping this one to the top of the TBR list after seeing it in countless best-of-the-year lists. The Song of Achilles is told from Patroclus' perspective. That didn't intrigue me as much as Booksmuggler's adoration for the book (word of mouth and hand-selling, right?). The Song of Achilles Madeline Miller. Patroclus was a Greek prince who was a suitor of Helen's as a young boy. It seems to me that this second theme has been diminished, is almost absent, in The Song of Achilles, to make room for the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus that Miller wants to portray. It is challenging loving someone completely and learning to accept all that they represent. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia. After he unintentionally murders a bully, he is exiled to Phthia, King Peleus' domain. I've read this novel few weeks ago and ever since am thinking to write review. I really enjoyed reading this book; I never wanted to put it down. I'm somewhere in between and not sure what to think about it. Many moons ago, Dear Author posted a debut author interview for Madeline Miller's Song of Achilles.
